In the wake of September's terrorist attacks, millions of Americans turned to the Internet for news and information. Many of them took action by registering space on the Web to share their thoughts.

Domain name registrar BulkRegister.com received 200 attack-related registrations in the first 20 minutes after the attacks alone. Users snatched up domains including "wtcsurvivors.com," "osama-bin-laden.org, "freedomwillprevail.com," and "bombafghanistan.com." Many of the domains have yet to post working Web sites. But some have news archives, inspirational messages, links to the Red Cross, and message boards. Others are home to stores selling flags, or in the case of "911catastrophe.com," a black page with the simple legend, "God Bless America."
